Best time for Umrah from the UAE: season dates, school breaks and Ramadan

The best time to go depends on three things you can't all control: the Saudi season calendar, your leave and school breaks, and how much crowding and cost you will accept.

The facts, with sources

Start with the hard limits

The Saudi ministry's calendar for the 1448 AH season sets the outer edges. Umrah visa holders must enter by 23 March 2027 and leave by 7 April 2027, and the last day to issue a visa is 9 March 2027. Hajj 2027 is expected in mid-May, and the season closes well before it.

School-break windows

Autumn break: 12–18 October 2026

It starts days from now. Because the vaccine must be taken at least 10 days before departure, and bookings and permits need lead time, this window is realistic mainly for people who have already prepared.

Winter break: 14 December 2026 to 3 January 2027

This is the longest break of the school year, three weeks, and the main family window. Wego's logistics guide describes late December to early January as the coolest stretch but with high crowds and higher prices. That is a booking platform's view, so treat it as a tendency, not a rule.

Spring break: 5–11 April 2027

This break starts after the 23 March last-entry date and ends after the 7 April departure deadline. If you plan to use an Umrah visa, you can't use this break. If you hold another visa type, check Nusuk for what is available on those dates before planning around it.

Ramadan

Many pilgrims choose Ramadan because of a well-known hadith about its reward. If you want to understand what it says, ask a scholar. On the practical side, it is the busiest and most expensive time. UAE operators told Aletihad that people start booking early to secure a good price, and that last-ten-nights packages can reach well above the usual range.

Wego reports that operators load Ramadan 2027 dates about three months ahead, so packages for 8 February onwards should open around mid-November 2026. Ramadan is also the busiest season for fake agents, so read the scams guide first.

Quieter windows

Wego's month-by-month guide points to mid-October to mid-November 2026 and mid-January to early February 2027 as the calmer, better-value windows: cooler weather than summer, moderate crowds, and prices below the Ramadan and pre-Hajj peaks. Neither lines up with a UAE school break, so these suit adults travelling without school-age children.

How to choose. Fix your leave days first. Then check them against the season limits above, then decide how much Ramadan matters to you, and book accordingly.
